Pangot

Walking into Pangot is like stepping into a fairy-tale village. Tucked away within the Kumaon Himalayas with magical forests echoing the songs of hundreds of colourful birds and little trails that disappear into sunlit glades - that's Pangot for you.

A birdwatcher's paradise, Pangot is 15 kms from Nainital and the drive is through the bird habitats of Cheena Peak range forests via Snow View Point and Kilbury. Almost 2000 bird species have been recorded at Pangot and its surrounding areas.

Life in Pangot is so quiet and unhurried that the most exciting activity is a trip to the small, quaint village market. The tea-stalls where villagers meet up is a good place to catch up with local life and spend hours doing nothing but being an observer of 'life passing by'.
