Kathgodam - RanikhetArrive at Kathgodam at 6 am (by boarding the overnight train from Old Delhi Railway Station that departs at 10.40 pm). Our representative would receive you and you would be transferred to our waiting vehicle. We reach Majkhali, Ranikhet (90 kms, 3 hrs) via Bhimtal and Bhowali to be pampered at our secluded exclusive bungalow offering a mesmerizing 180 degree view of the Himalayan ranges. We spend the remaining day at leisure or we may take a short hike nearby.
Ranikhet - RanikhetAfter breakfast we would go exploring in an around Ranikhet. Our first halt is the nearby 2nd highest Golf Course of the world where you would be bowled over by the lush rolling meadows of the natural course. We also visit the revered Kalika temple situated nearby. Thereafter, driving through the serene Mall Road of Ranikhet we visit the Chaubhatia garden famous for its exotic fauna. Post our rendezvous we pay our obsessions at the wish-fulfilling thousand bells temple - Jhula Devi Mandir, associated with the legend of how the Holy Mother appeared as a savior to the villagers. It is believed that once you make a wish here and on fulfillment of your wish, you should come back to this temple and tie a bell thanking the Mother. After that holy visit we may explore the cute Ranikhet Market to finally return back. As dusk set in a camp fire is lighted as we gather around and hear and share our feelings.
Ranikhet - VijaypurPost a hearty continental breakfast we move out of Ranikhet. The serpentine mountain road scales uphill as we pass by the lush tea estates of sleepy Kausani, where we halt for a cup of herbal tea. The view of the Himalayan peaks from Kausani is awesome. After soaking in for a while we continue ahead soon we pass by holy township of Baijnath. Baijnath was the capital of the Katyuri dynasty of kings who ruled Uttaranchal during 12th and 13th centuries. Mythological it is believed that Lord Shiva and Parvati got married at the confluence of the Gomti and the Garur Ganga rivers. The ancient Baijnath temple is situated just adjacent to the Gomti River that flow by silently. After taking our blessings we continue ahead. We stop for our lunch at Bageshwar and also visit the revered Baghnath temple. Thereafter, driving through the serene forested road we reach Vijaypur. We make ourselves comfortable at our eco-resort set within a lush Pine groove amidst chirping birds all around. If you are lucky, get your maiden view of the famous Panchachuli peaks as you soak yourself into the serene environment of our resort. As dusk set in, a campfire ignites your spirits as you contemplate your trip ahead.
Vijaypur - Patal Bhubaneshwar - JhaltolaAfter breakfast we start off towards Patal Bhubaneshwar. We drive through the forested road and soon pass by Chaukori from where you get to see the shining Panchachuli peaks in crystal clear visibility. After a quick photo session we continue ahead to pass by the township of Berinag and finally we reach mythical Patal Bhubaneshwar. This ancient underground limestone holy cave system of Patal Bhubaneshwar is set to fascinate you as you discover a never-seen-before world. Legend says that the cave enshrines Lord Shiva and thirty-three crores Gods mentioned in Hindu mythology. Stalactite and stalagmite formation depicting various shapes and dimension can be viewed inside. We would enter this cave through a narrow tunnel-like opening which leads to a number of caves which is electrically illuminated. It is believed that this cave is internally connected to the four holy abodes of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri & Yamunotri (Char Dham). After getting thoroughly mystified, we drive ahead to finally reach our mountain resort at Jaltola.
Jaltola - MunsiyariPost breakfast we move ahead to our next destination Munsiyari. We pass by Thal to take a tea break at Birthi and if you are interested, take a short hike for a closer view of the Birthi Falls. Thereon, as we start scaling up the Himalayan high road and the landscape too drastically changes from lush green to a barren landscape as we approach Kala Muni at a height of 2748 meters. Paying our obeisance at the Kali Temple at Kala Muni top, we descend into the yawning Munsiyari Valley. We check into our hotel/resort as our eyes get automatically glued into the panoramic view of the Panchachuli and countless other peaks all in glorious settings.
Munsiyari - Munsiyari Bugyal - MunsiyariAs we gain considerable height, we acclimatize and post breakfast we attend a quick discourse about the legends of Munsiyari as well as the greater Himalayas. Thereafter, we undertake a introductory 3 km trek to Munsiyari bugyal (2300 meters), which is a picturesque alpine meadow offering amazing views of the Kumaon Himalayas. We return back by lunch-time and late afternoon we explore the cute Munsiyari market and taste some local momos. We also visit the Tribal museum - a storehouse of art and artifacts representing the culture and ethos of the people of this region.
Munsiyari - AlmoraToday we move out of Munsiyari and make our way towards the cantonment township of Almora, rich for its cultural heritage and history. Almora is considered the cultural heart of the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The scenic vistas of this place with lush pine and fir trees would keep you mesmerized as we check into the mountain resort with enchanting views of the majestic Himalayas. Rest of the day is at leisure to explore this scenic town.
Almora - Binsar - AlmoraPost breakfast we take a day excursion to nearby Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary. Binsar was the summer capital of the Chand Kings, who ruled over Kumaon, from 11th to 18th centuries AD. Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1988, for the conservation and protection of the shrinking broad leaf oak (Quercus) forests of the Central Himalayan region, and for the bird lover this place boast of over it 200 bird species.
Almora - Nainital - KathgodamToday is the last day of our Exotic Kumaon trip as we drive to Nainital, the glittering jewel of Kumaon Himalayas. We take a walk around the Naini Lake and seek the blessing at the Naini Devi temple. Thereafter, we take a detour to the Naini peak the highest point of Nainital and later afternoon we drive back to Kathgodam to arrive in time for our return train back to New Delhi at night.
## Based on your desire the duration of this trip can be modified. However, please note that we have charted this trip keeping in mind not to make it very hectic as you end up exploring the Kumaon region.
