Basic Kumaon

Basic Kumaon offers you a glimpse into the main hotspots of the awesome Kumaon Himalayas. It is a tried and tested route that covers Bhimtal, Sattal, Nakuchiatal, Ranikhet, Kausani, Nainatal, Almora, Binsar and Muketshwar, The landscapes varies from heavenly lakes, to lush pine forest, from revered temples to panoramic views of perennially snow-clad Himalayan peaks.

 

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day One

    Kathgodam - Ranikhat

    Arrive at Kathgodam at 6 am (by boarding the overnight train from Old Delhi Railway Station that departs at 10.40 pm). Our representative would receive you and you would be transferred to our waiting vehicle. We reach Majkhali, Ranikhet (90 kms, 3 hrs) via Bhimtal and Bhowali to be pampered at our secluded exclusive bungalow offering a mesmerizing 180 degree view of the Himalayan ranges. We spend the remaining day at leisure or we may take a short hike nearby.
  • Day Two

    Ranikhet - Ranikhet

    After breakfast we would go exploring in an around Ranikhet. Our first halt is the nearby 2nd highest Golf Course of the world where you would be bowled over by the lush rolling meadows of the natural course. We also visit the revered Kalika temple situated nearby. Thereafter, driving through the serene Mall Road of Ranikhet we visit the Chaubhatia garden famous for its exotic fauna. Post our rendezvous we pay our obsessions at the wish-fulfilling thousand bells temple - Jhula Devi Mandir, associated with the legend of how the Holy Mother appeared as a savior to the villagers. It is believed that once you make a wish here and on fulfillment of your wish, you should come back to this temple and tie a bell thanking the Mother. After that holy visit we may explore the cute Ranikhet Market to finally return back. As dusk set in a camp fire is lighted as we gather around and hear and share our feelings.
  • Day Three

    Ranikhet - Kausani

    Post a hearty continental breakfast we move out of our resort in Ranikhet. The serpentine mountain road scales uphill. We can feel the aroma of the pine wood as the fresh mountain breeze sweep past the rolled down window pane of our vehicle. Soon we enter a lush tea country as we slowly drive into Kausani. The lush tea bushes of the estate set amidst the rolling hills is a sight to behold. Overlooking the valley below is the panoramic views of majestic Himalayan peaks. See up close the towering peaks of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Maiktoli, and countless other standing tall as we check into our exquisite resort set within this heavenly settings. Sipping a cup of herbal tea we simply let own minds unwind watching a heavenly sunset.
  • Day Four

    Kausani - Almora

    After a heavy breakfast we make our way out of Kausani towards Almora. Soon we pass by holy township of Baijnath. Baijnath was the capital of the Katyuri dynasty of kings who ruled Uttaranchal during 12th and 13th centuries. Mythological it is believed that Lord Shiva and Parvati got married at the confluence of the Gomti and the Garur Ganga rivers. The ancient Baijnath temple is situated just adjacent to the Gomti River that flow by silently. After taking our blessings we continue ahead. We stop for our lunch at Bageshwar and also visit the revered Baghnath temple. Thereafter driving through the serene forested road we reach the cantonment township of Almora - considered as the cultural heart of the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The scenic vistas of this place with lush pine and fir trees would keep you mesmerized as we check into the mountain resort with enchanting views of the majestic Himalayas.
  • Day Five

    Almora - Binsar - Jageshwar - Almora

    Post breakfast we take a day excursion to nearby Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary. Binsar was the summer capital of the Chand Kings, who ruled over Kumaon, from 11th to 18th centuries AD. Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1988, for the conservation and protection of the shrinking broad leaf oak (Quercus) forests of the Central Himalayan region, and for the bird lover this place boast of over it 200 bird species. While returning we visit the ancient Jageshwar group of temple and as we enter back Almora, we pay a visit to nearby the Kasar Devi temple.
  • Day Six

    Almora - Nainital

    Post breakfast start to Nainatal. Approximate 2 hours drive and check into the resort. Visit the Naini Devi temple, take the ropeway to reach the highest point of Nainital and evening explore the Naini Lake.
  • Day Seven

    Nainital - Bhimtal - Sattal - Nakuchiatal - Nainital

    Today we take a full day trip and explore the quite enviorns of Kumaon region's famous lakes including Bhimtal, Sattal & Nakuchiatal. Late afternoon return back to Nainital and take a gentle stroll on the Mall Road and indulge ourselves in shopping.
  • Day Eight

    Nainital - Mukteshwar

    Post breakfast we move out of Nainital and move towards another hidden jewel of Kumaon – Mukteshwar. We are mesmerized at the 180 degree views of the snow clad Himalayas from the height sleep Muketeswar. We simply soak in the views and relax.
  • Day Nine

    Mukteshwar

    Today we go exploring to the nearby sightseeing points of Mukteshwar. In case if you wish you simply relax at our resort you are free to do so.
  • Day Ten

    Mukteshwar - Kathgodam - Delhi

    It is the last day of the Basic Kumaon trip and after lunch, we make our way back towards Kathgodam to catch the Ranikhet Express that leaves for Delhi in the evening.
